The art of motorcycle communities
Honest photos of men are rare, if the meme of men's dating profiles containing primarily photographs of them holding fish is known to you, then you can understand the starting point of my journey. I thought that there would be an interesting opportunity as a photographer to get people's guard down when photographing them around motorcycles. Since a motorcycle, like a fish, is akin a trophy or toy to show off, then I would be welcomed into the space to photograph their motos. Little do they realize they are the star of my work. Sure I love a good looking automotive as a lover of manual cars and a Triumph motorcycle rider myself. However, I love meeting unique people with a story to tell, and knowledge to impart upon me. Riders are infinite in their backgrounds, talents, tastes, values, genders, and sexuality. As a rider based out of NJ who frequently covers the NYC scene, you'll find the most diversity possible among riders. As you look through the following images, hold no prejudice in your heart and know that a helmet is often a "mask" and that a rider can be anyone you know. The vast majority of them are among the kindness people you will ever know and if their is one common theme to be found, it's that the freedom found on a motorcycle is universal and compelling.
